Tactical communications at the Land edge is changing. Not in terms of the fundamental requirement — getting information to the right people, in the right form, in time to act on it — but in how that requirement is being met. The shift is away from closed, single-vendor systems and toward open, modular, interoperable architectures that can evolve without being replaced wholesale each time the threat changes.
LETacCIS is the MOD's programme delivering that shift for the Land domain, and the RM6393 Tactical Communication Systems framework, let through GCA, provides central government and wider public sector organisations with specialised military grade tactical communication and information systems. Antillion's appointment to Lot 3 places our capability in direct service of it.
Compute is part of the communications story
This appointment gives us the chance to demonstrate something we think is underappreciated in how tactical communications is discussed: the compute platform matters as much as the network.
Communications technology moves data. But at the tactical edge — where connectivity is contested, degraded, and intermittent — data also needs to be processed, exploited, and intelligently routed close to where it is generated. Waiting for bandwidth to send information back to a fixed facility is not always an option. The decision cycle doesn't wait for connectivity to recover.
PACE edge compute platforms exist for exactly this environment. High-performance, portable, and built around the operational realities of deployed Land forces — not adapted from data centre infrastructure, but designed from the ground up for the conditions LETacCIS is addressing.
What customers can access under Lot 3: Components
Lot 3 covers hardware and software components that form composite or complete system solutions, including user-facing applications, core applications and training, platform infrastructure, information and data, security infrastructure, and system and service management infrastructure.
